Objective: design a self-sustained system using no less than six cuts, using all materials provided; no more, no less, and using no fasteners or adhesives.
My original idea for this project was to create a spiraling staircase model using sets of three and alternating them upwards. However, after trying this to no avail two times, I decided to just make a grid that was stacked on top of each other. This did not work out either. For some reason, no matter how carefully I cut and measured, I could not get any of my notches to fit. Finally, with about an hour left in the woodshop on the last day available before the project was due, I decided to put the pieces together anyway I could get them to fit. I actually really kind of like the result. It looks sort of arbitrary, but I almost appreciate that. It is made of two pieces that are linked to one another, so the two pieces are able to move inside each other. I wish we had more time on this project, since it really didn't come out the way that I had envisioned or intended.
