Time Capsule Drawing

Unfortunately, the paper was hard to scan in because it was so large. Parts of the drawings ended up being cut off as a result. For the most part though, the bulk of the drawing is there.

Self Portrait

This project was hard to photograph because it was so big.

Memory Box

This is my memory: I remember being really small and being allowed to stay up late one night waiting for Dad to come home from attending night school after work. I remember music being on the radio. My my was washing dishes and I remember standing alternately in the living room and seeing Mom in the bright kitchen, and walking into the dark living room and watching the door to wait for Dad. I decided to focus on the feeling of anticipation.
These two photos are of my last iteration. April suggested that I get rid of the box in order to get a better feel for anticipation. I also decided to get rid of the black because I felt it would have been detracting from my original intention. Overall I feel it came out well.
The next is of my Third iteration. I tried to change the pattern so that it didn't seem so much like a city scape. It didn't really work.
Next is my second iteration. I tried to create a pattern to further suggest the idea of the expected changing, or anticipation.
The first is my original iteration. I created the shape so that it was a line of expected and then it would change. The black and white had to do with the memory of a dark room and a light room. This was a vivid part of my memory.

Colored Pencil Box

Third Iteration Above. I changed the lid back to the original, but I kept the color. I tried at first to make the lid one piece of paper, but this didn't work since the lid wouldn't close at all. This box is not as good as I would have liked it to be. I struggled with cutting all along, but especially with this one. No matter how carefully I measured, the box never quite fit perfectly.

Second Iteration Above. I tried to change the flaps so that they would open differently. They weren't able to close all the way, and I just didn't like it as much. I also added to color to emphasis the structure of the box.

Below is the first iteration. This project was hard to keep the lid corners glued together. It was also hard to hide the tape that I used to connect the lid to the box.

Egg Project

The first two at the top are the final iteration. The next down is the third iteration, the next two the second and the first two the very first iteration. The first iteration was weighted with paper and cardboard to create a heavy structure to contrast between the light character of the egg. However, because this wasn't a visual representation, I moved on to the second iteration. The second and third iterations are both trying to contrast the eggs geometry. The third gets closer with more points but is still not there. In my final iteration, I eliminated the box, which finally brought about the contrast that I was looking for.
